Starting with Suzuki

For your child's first introduction to Suzuki violin or cello,

the Newfoundland & Labrador Suzuki Institute

offers a half-day program.

The following classes will be scheduled between 8:30 AM and 12:00 PM Monday through Friday:

  • Masterclass (mini individual lessons in a group setting)

  • Group class

  • Orff class (creative and explorative rhythm, movement, dance, and song)

  • Choir rehearsal

  • Observation class

Starting with Suzuki students are welcome and encouraged to attend all guest artist and student concerts as well as any Institute-wide social activities.

Parents play an extremely important role in the Suzuki method and are expected to attend all lessons and classes with their child. Parents are encouraged to attend our Parent Talk series during choir practice.

NLSI will provide families with an appropriate instrument during camp week. Families DO NOT need to purchase or rent their own. Starting with Suzuki students will be sized for their instrument on Sunday, June 28 during camp check-in. They are encouraged to attend and watch the camp play-in that will immediately follow. Regular daily classes begin Monday, June 29.

This program is suited for children 4 - 7 years old, and is the ideal launch to private and group studies with STEP for the upcoming school year! Families who are brand new to STEP should register for this program, as well as STEP families starting an additional sibling in the method.

Starting with Suzuki Program Fee (New Families): $200
Starting with Suzuki Program Fee (Returning STEP Families): $150
