The Newfoundland & Labrador Suzuki Institute offers students studying violin, viola, or cello the opportunity to enrich their musical studies through a week of intense, but fun and inspiring individual and group instruction with other musically dedicated students.  Our faculty come from across North America to share their expertise and joy with students ranging from beginning Suzuki Pre-Twinklers, through advanced students up to the age of 18. All families will attend our camp check-in Sunday afternoon, followed by a play-in.  Daily classes will officially begin on Monday morning.

Students will need to bring their own lunches, except during two optional lunch events. A canteen will be available during recess selling snacks. Young cellists should bring their stool or small chair - all cellist should bring end-pin straps or donuts.

Theme days and solo recital sign up will be communicated on May 2. Program fees include a NLSI t-shirt.

Are you a Suzuki student at the Book 6 level and would like to attend? Advanced chamber music experiences are available with custom-created schedules. Please contact NLSI to arrange by May 2, 2020.

We hope to see you at the 2021 Newfoundland & Labrador Suzuki Institute!

Parents as Partners

Parents play an extremely important role in the Suzuki method and are expected to attend all lessons and classes with their child. NLSI requires all students 12 years and under be accompanied by a parent.

NLSI students in Starting with Suzuki, PreTwinkle, and Book 1 programs are 1/2 day programs, scheduled from 8:30 am - 12:00pm. Families are free to leave at the lunch break.

Parents should plan to bring notepads and pens for taking notes during classes. Parents are encouraged to attend our Parent Talk series during their child's choir rehearsals.

NLSI programs depend on parent volunteering. All parents will be called upon during the week for help to ensure our program runs smoothly.
