Dating back to the 16th century, St. John’s is one of the oldest cities in North America, and is packed full of things to see and do. Within easy reach of the city there are endless miles of coastline, beautiful fishing villages, museums, festivals, and lots more. June-July, when we host NLSI, is a particularly magical time to visit. There are often icebergs drifting by at that time of year, and the first of the many whales that spend the summer nearby are arriving in the bays around town. Many of our visiting families spend a few extra days before or after NLSI seeing the sights around town. We definitely encourage that!

For a better sense of what there is to see and do around here, there are some great websites to check out:

Destination St. John’s is your go-to place for the City of St. John’s, with listings of events, attractions, accommodations, and more.

The Newfoundland and Labrador website has tons of information about things to see and do outside of St. John’s.

Billeting is an option for students attending NLSI who are 13 years and older. Please contact NLSI by May 2, 2020 to arrange billeting for your child.

NLSI does not provide accommodations to families visiting from outside St. John's area. However, we suggest you consider Guest Accommodations in the residences at Memorial University, a 12 minute walk to Rennie's River Elementary.
